How to Apply

We're so glad you're interested in joining our Burgundy family!

The admission process begins in the fall prior to the year in which a student enrolls. First, please get in touch with the Admission Office by completing our online inquiry form or by calling 703.329.6968. We'll send you an admission packet. Then, plan to attend an Open House, held monthly October through January.

Applications for each school year are accepted between October of the year prior to enrollment and February 1. Supporting materials, including teacher recommendations, school transcripts, and test scores must be submitted no later than February 15. Forms for supporting materials can be printed from the corresponding sections below or through the links on our online application.

Applications submitted after February 1 will be considered after April 1 for any grades in which space might still be available.

Admission Testing

Testing is required for all applicants.

Students applying for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten must complete and submit WPPSI IV (Weschler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-Fourth Edition) scores and full report. Applicants for Grades 1 through 8 are required to submit WISC-IV or WISC-V (Weschler Intelligence Scale for Children-Fourth or Fifth Edition) scores and full report.

Parents should contact an independent licensed psychologist to schedule WPPSI or WISC testing. Our list of local testers is updated annually. At your request, testers will forward your child’s results to our Admission Office. Results are due by February 15.

Note: Middle Level SSAT or ISEE test results may be accepted in lieu of WISC results for students applying for Grades 6-8.

Teacher recommendations are required for every applicant. Recommendation forms should be given to your child’s teacher(s) to complete and send directly to Burgundy's Admission Office.

Burgundy accepts common recommendation forms created by AISGW, linked below. Applicants for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 5 are required to submit one recommendation form from their current teachers. Applicants for Grades 6 through 8 must submit a Math and an English recommendation from their current teachers.

Please call the Admission Office at 703.329.6968 for further instruction if your child has not attended a school prior to applying to Burgundy.

Transcripts/grade records/progress reports are required for all applicants (including Junior Kindergarten applicants if available). Please sign and submit a transcript request form to your child's school, so records can be forwarded to Burgundy's Admission Office.
